A robust SI partner selection process is key in any project implementation

Most projects need the input of an independent SI. With experience across software and hardware implementations, cloud migration and solution test and support, we can negotiate sustainable and bespoke agreements on your behalf.

The prospect of asking a third party to deliver your project can be daunting, so we engage the project team throughout the procurement lifecycle, to ensure a smooth and efficient process.

Commercial Stages

  • Requirements and market analysis

Determining the scope and scale of the implementation will influence the market segment we look at. There may also be specific SI requirements, such as SAP Gold Partner certification.
Detailing your requirements before exploring the market ensures we can capture accurate supplier responses.

Based on this information we provide market appraisal reports, RFIs, RFPs and evaluation scorecards.

  • Supplier negotiation

Understanding the type of delivery model, market and supplier behaviours is crucial when negotiating with an SI.
Typically, more than one supplier would go through to this phase. We deliver a concise and targeted approach to contract negotiations, including commercial, legal and solution elements.
A negotiation plan is developed across the team to achieve the most sustainable outcome.

  • In-life management

Depending on the nature of the engagement and complexity of the project, it will require contract and supplier management, particularly with an SI partner.

Having an insight into a supplier’s mindset and behaviours is valuable in any relationship, and particularly so in project delivery management.
We have developed a Supplier Management Program, which can be tailored to specific suppliers and project delivery.

  • Review and refresh

In the case of longer-term SI engagements, it is likely that project requirements, deliverables and timescales will change over the life of the project.

Whether you need to renegotiate your arrangements or replace your SI, we can support you to reach the right conclusion with the lowest commercial impact.

Key benefits

  • Cost management

A market appraisal provides a solid foundation to benchmark day rates. For some engagements a fixed price may be preferable to T&M, as well as considering alternative delivery models.

Providing this analysis alongside a defined negotiation plan will deliver financial and service delivery benefits for the initial implementation investment, as well as ongoing warranty and support.

  • Delivery management

A defined strategy and roadmap which the whole organization supports provides clear information to the market, which they can respond to with solutions and opportunities.

The approach you take depends on what stage you are at in the procurement lifecycle, but having a robust and consistent process helps ensure you select the best solution and supplier.

Successfully selecting an SI for software implementation
  • Problem

Following a market appraisal, our client selected an alternative middleware product as part of a wider software implementation. This required some existing services to be migrated and integrated into the new software implementation. Our client recognised the need for an SI, as well as the need to interface into that SI for the software implementation.

  • Solution

The market segment for this specialist SI is limited, we worked swiftly to obtain proposals and shortlist preferred suppliers. The SI selected was able to meet the demanding timescales and optimise their commercial offer.

  • Result

Working with the technical and project team,  an optimal delivery model was created using both onshore and offshore resourcing. Over the delivery period the resourcing model flexed, to optimise the budget and meet the demanding delivery timescales.
